Marissa earned a B.S. degree from North Dakota State University in Human Development and Family Science in 2016. Since then, she has been working in childcare as an early education teacher/float due to her passion for helping children develop and learn. Marissa is currently a third year Master’s student in North Dakota State University’s Counselor Education program. She is pursuing both Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling. Marissa spent the 2019-2020 school year interning at three different school sites as a school counselor working with students K-12. During that time, she provided individual counseling, group counseling, and taught classroom lessons.
Marissa is carrying out her Clinical Mental Health Counseling internship as a Counselor in Training with us this year and intends to graduate this spring (2021). Marissa’s theoretical approach is Person Centered while using techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Play Therapy. Marissa strives to provide integrative therapy in order to use techniques and tools that fit the needs of each individual client. She has an interest in trauma counseling and is passionate about connection and client empowerment.
