Reid Segal, M.S., LAPC, NCC

We do the best we can with the resources that are available to us. Therapy expands our resources to draw from, and therefore, helps us get to a better place.
Reid Segal, M.S., LAPC, NCC

Biography

Reid decided she wanted to be a counselor at 12 years old when she met with her own counselor for the first time. She has seen the benefits of therapy from both sides of the couch and is passionate about offering a welcoming and unintimidating therapy environment where she collaborates with her clients as an equal. Reid is LGBTQIA+ affirming, inclusive, and offers a safe space for all. She believes therapy is a sacred space that can ground you back to your most genuine self and reintroduce you to what you value most.

Reid earned her B.A. degree from North Dakota State University in 2019 and her M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Minnesota State University- Moorhead in 2022. She has experience working in crisis care and higher education settings. Counseling Approach and Clinical Focus:

Reid uses a holistic approach to help her clients understand how the environment around them, their body, mind, and past all contribute to their current state. Reid draws from many theoretical influences to guide her counseling, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, self-compassion practices, Feminist Multicultural Therapy, solution-focused interventions, Polyvagal theory, and psychodynamic principles. More importantly than any counseling theory, Reid strives to build a safe and caring relationship with all of her clients to foster positive outcomes from therapy.

Counseling provides a safe space for hope to grow. I believe that every person is the author of their own story and healing can happen as we navigate the writing and rewriting of our story. It is a privilege for me to support you along your journey.

It is my firm belief that there is nothing wrong with you, instead I'd ask you: what has happened to you? Many of our struggles in this life are due to circumstances out of our control. In our work together, I hope to support you in seeing how many gifts you have, and how you can wake up feeling joy, peace, and genuine appreciation for yourself and those around you. I look forward to meeting you!

I believe we all have internal strengths and resiliency we can build upon. Sometimes this involves taking a deeper dive within ourselves to cultivate those strengths. Therapy can be a powerful way to help organize, make sense of, and reshape those certain thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that can often make life feel difficult.
