Clinical Training
Sheyenne earned a B.S. degree from North Dakota State University in Human Development and Family Science with an emphasis on Child and Adolescent Development in 2018. She also received a minor in Psychology. Sheyenne attained her Master’s degree from the Minnesota State University Moorhead Counselor Education program.
Sheyenne spent 2020 and the first half of 2021 at Prairie St. John’s. There she was able to conduct group counseling and safety plan with clients. She also spent the summer of 2021 at Motherland Health, a volunteer based mental health agency. This allowed her to see individual clients and conduct individual therapy. She believes this well rounded experience will help her at Birchwood and is excited to be a part of the team!
Counseling Approach
The theoretical approach Sheyenne uses is more Cognitive Behavioral based. She also likes to include interventions from Solution-Focused, Person Centered, and is starting to use Narrative Therapy as well. Sheyenne strives to use a more integrated theoretical approach to best serve and meet the needs of her clients. Sheyenne is also interested in learning more about trauma counseling and learning more about working with blended families.
A message from Sheyenne:
I have a passion for helping my clients become the best they can be and empower them to go above that.
