Biography
Kristen is a graduate student in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Minnesota State University Moorhead, where she is completing her master’s degree. Kristen earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Minnesota State University Moorhead and is excited to continue growing as a counselor and learning alongside the people she works with.
Outside of counseling and attending school, you can find Kristen spending time with friends and family, hanging out or more so being bossed around by her cats, or taking a long motorcycle ride. she loves being spontaneous and is always up for the next adventure, whether that means traveling somewhere new, exploring nature, or simply seeing where the day takes her. Kristen is a big believer in curiosity, authenticity, and keeping a sense of humor along the way.
Counseling Approach and Clinical Focus:
Kristen has a special interest in working with teens and young adults as they navigate the many changes, challenges, and questions that come with growing into who they are. She believes there is so much more to a person than a diagnosis and strives to see and understand the whole person rather than placing them into a category. Her approach is warm, empathetic, and nonjudgmental, with an emphasis on person-centered and holistic care. Kristen also enjoys incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and mindfulness techniques when they fit the individual and their goals.
A message from Kristen:
Above all, I want clients to feel heard, understood, and comfortable enough to trust me with their stories. I hope to create a space where people can show up as their authentic selves without worrying about being judged or feeling like they have to figure everything out on their own. Sometimes it means sitting with the hard stuff, and sometimes it means finding the humor in life’s more unexpected moments.
